A mansion built in the late 18th century and home
to the Collins family after they moved from The Old
House.
Collinwood was first built on the moors near Lyme
Regis, on the South West coast of England. It was
then disassembled, shipped to Boston by boat and
carried to Collinsport in oxcarts, where it was
reassembled.
The floors are of Italian marble from Tuscany.
The ceiling beams and railings are of cherrywood
carved in Germany.
The windows were obtained from the finest estates
in Europe.
The house is exceedingly large and when asked how
many rooms there are, Carolyn Stoddard doesn't
know.
